English Language Learning (ELL)
Brandeis University English Language Learning Initiative was founded in the Spring of 2001, to tutor Brandeis dining hall employees in English. Now tutoring services has expanded to include all interested Brandeis employees. Students who tutor need not have any background in teaching English, nor do they need to speak another language. All tutors need is a willingness to help people in their own community, and patience when communicating. Learners come from a variety of backgrounds, languages and levels of English making each tutoring session different.

National Collegiate Volunteers
National Collegiate Volunteers is a new not-for-profit organization created by students from Tufts and Brandeis Universities. Our goal is to support the rebuilding of communities in the United States and around the world by focusing the skills and energy of college students on directed and achievable projects. While student interest in active citizenship has grown tremendously in the last decade, many service programs fail to harness those students’ strongest skills. By seeking out organizations in need of those abilities, National Collegiate Volunteers hopes to usher in a new model of student service.
