            Meet BOO Board 2012

            President: Kimmie Kfare

            Picture
It can be argued that Kimmie is the most dedicated person in the BOO community. First as First Year Representative, then as Publicity Coordinator and now as the coveted role of President, she clearly spends all her time working for BOO. Somehow, she is managing to pull off a major in Business and a possible minor in something else. Even though she is from Stamford CT, she is famous in the Israel Yeshiva/Seminary world for making High School girls think they’ll grow up to be terrible people if they do not go to Tiferet. In her spare time, she enjoys reading Jodi Picoult books and loves being fashionable (just check out her “stylish” winter coat). Her main aspiration is to graduate early and become a true eishet chayil. Judging by her siblings’ engagement record, she could be married within the next month, possibly to Luke from Modern Family, if she could swing it.  Despite Kimmie’s major character flaw of her lack of desire to snuggle, she is going to be an amazing President!

            Vice President: Dana Kandel

            Picture
This Torah loving, New Jersey native has once again dedicated herself to the BOO community. Dana has moved to Florida, but sometimes claims she’s from New York. If you can’t find Dana, she is probably having a meeting, learning in the Beit Midrash, or overwriting papers. Dana greatly enjoys everything having to do with babies; everything from pregnancy to childbirth and aspires to have many children herself.  Her constant profile changing gives everyone the opportunity to see her various beautiful outfits! This overachiever and future Rebbetzin is always there to lend a helping hand, offer advice, and lead Am Yisroel. Meet your Vice President, Dana Kandel!

            Treasurer: Micah Lehmann

            Picture
Although it may seem that Micah has been at Brandeis forever, Micah actually has spent most of his life in Baltimore. Despite working hard during the year, he has found time during the summer to work TWICE at Habitat for Humanity, and as a camp counselor for 4th graders last summer. According to an intimate source, Micah is obsessed with Facebook and the song Stereo Hearts. He also enjoys playing with his hair, is easily distracted, and is on the pre-med track. The source also revealed that his own roommate unpacked for him this semester. Micah likes numbers, claims he can add and subtract without a mechanical calculator, and is currently taking a math class. Trust him, he knows a thing or two about treasury.

            Secretary: Gali Gordon

            Picture
All the way from Natick, Massachusetts, I present to you your new Secretary: Gali Gordon! Gali is extremely friendly and approachable, just ask one of his 1,341 Facebook friends.  Gali is a third generation Bostonian, and as such, he enjoys New-Englandy type activities, such as admiring foliage.  Gali is truly a passionate advocate and lover of Israel.  He imparts some of his love for Israel and Judaism onto the next generation by teaching children at weekly Hebrew school.  He will be a phenomenal BOO secretary because he is organized, responsible, and an active community participant.

            Publicity Coordinator: Sarah Eagle

            Picture
When one hears the name Sarah Eagle, the BOO announcement email in your inbox is what comes to mind. Sarah is probably, without a doubt, the greatest “Shermanizer” Brandeis has ever seen. When she is not in Sherman or the SCC, Sarah spends her time organizing her incredible shoe collection (right foot forward, left foot back) or prepping for Shabbos five hours in advance. Although she might be mathematically challenged Sarah loves to ice skate, play tennis, sculpt her shoulders, and eat ice cream. Even though we are not sure what Sarah will major in (or if she will ever know herself), we are sure of one thing-we are blessed to have her in our community. Our American forefathers chose the Eagle as their symbol and we did the same. There is no name we would rather see twice a week in our inbox.

            Education Coordinator: Aaron Wengrofsky

            Picture
Aaron Wengrofsky is the BOO Education Coordinator. He is extremely qualified to coordinate Jewish educational events. He grew up in the Five Towns, and recently spent a year in Israel studying Torah at Yeshivat Lev Hatorah. Need I say more? He is enthusiastic and efficient with his position on board, but, according to his roommate, not quite as enthusiastic as he is about “Lamas with Hats!” (see:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZUPCB9533Y) and his family. He is an incredible asset to BOO Board!

            Social Events Coordinator: Ilana Rosenbaum

            Picture
Ilana hails from Harova, Israel, where she is a seminary girl at heart. While it may appear she is extremely zionistic as well as patriotic, she is truly partial to Canada...it was love at first site, what can the girl do? Ilana may only be a freshman, but she is the ultimate Sherman shopper (and if you want her to make you the best Sherman wrap, please don’t hesitate to ask her)! If you ever need a shoulder to cry on, not only does Ilana always go out of her way to help others, but she is surely awake at 1AM eating nachos and peanut butter in bed. And watching private practice. Either that or she is trying to figure out what she wants to major in at Brandeis. Ilana is hoping to be a legendary social events coordinator. If she doesn’t succeed she return to Harova for Shana Bet.

            Chesed Coordinator: Rone Ohayon

            Picture
Born in the holy land of Israel, Rone moved to the currently barren and brokenhearted lebron jamesless city of Akron, Ohio when she was just a mere baby. Yet, she aspires to re-make aliyah again someday soon! Whether it's shermanizing with every spare moment she has, staying up late nights studying for tests in the Bet Midrash, or being walked home from Shapiro in the middle of the night, Rone is always busy. Speaking fluent Hebrew, Rone masterfully manipulates the Israeli accent and American accent at will, switching seamlessly back and forth. Easily visible around campus in her smoking hot pink fleece, Rone loves volunteering and has previously volunteered at a children’s hospital, making her a perfect choice for Chesed Coordinator! She is always there to lend a helping hand and offer you her mom's cookies in times of need. She is a constant presence in the Shapiro lounge seen as she never leaves the room, making one wonder if she ever actually spends any time in North. One of the few Sephardis on campus, Rone has a huge obsession with purel and arguably beats out Alyssa Moore for the coveted title of Maccabeats #1 fan on Brandeis campus! Rone is one of the sweetest, most caring, funny, and kind girls out there and our BOO community is blessed to have her. There is no one who fits this position better and we have full confidence that she will succeed greatly. And boys, she’s currently SINGLE!

            Beit Midrash Coordinator: Nathan Young

            Picture
Born in the capital of the greatest city in the world, Nathan has always been destined for greatness. Ever since his days as gabbai in his early high school years, he has been paving a fiery path through Modern Orthodoxy. He graduated from the Hebrew Academy of Great Hartford, alongside such BOO legends as Avi Snyder and Gabriella Finegold. But wait, there is more! Not only did Nathan attend the highly prestigious and esteemed Yeshiva of Eretz Hatzvi, but he also played Algernon Moncrieff in The Importance of Being Ernest. He is both a wise scholar, and a brilliant Thespian! Could you find a more qualified Beit Midrash Coordinator? In the words of Rashi: “No way Jose”.

            Gabbai: Rafi Abramowitz

            Picture
As a native born Hispanic, Israeli, and American, Rafi certainly has a lot to offer to the Gabbinate. Under the prestigious training of Eitan Cooper, Rafi was next in line to continue the tall-short method of gabbais past and present. He has learned to use his skills from improv and incorporate them into his public speaking responsibilities at the Orthodox Minyan (if you listen closely, you can hear his stupendous skill from acwoss the room). He just loves eating healthy and working out that, to his chagrin, he can't help but constantly lose weight! The future is still TBA with Lord Farquaad at the forefront. It's to infinity and beyond with Rafi as our Gabbai!

            First-Year Representative: Yael Annis

            Picture
Yael Annis was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. After many happy years on the West Coast, Yael and her family realized the Zionist dream and made Aliya to Israel, where her family eventually settled in Hashmonaim between Tel-Aviv and Jerusalem. After graduating high school in her new home, Yael enlisted into a national service program, known in Hebrew as Sherut Leumi. After this year, she studied in a culinary school at Hadassah college in Jerusalem. After mastering the culinary arts in the holy land, Yael moved halfway around the world to Waltham and is currently doing as fantastic job as First Year Rep on Board this current year.

            First-Year Representative: Perri Lurie

            Picture
Hailing from Los Angeles, California, Perri Lurie is the newest member of BOO Board! Perri can most likely be found watching every show on every network in the SCC, a place she has quickly learned to call her home. Although she does not yet understand black ice, she is slowly learning to navigate the cold weather of New England. Don't be surprised if you find her watching a movie that she watched last week; as she often watches movies twice. Perri's array of outfits enables her to repeat her outfits so infrequently that it seems as though her closet expands forever. With next week's homework already finished, Perri will have plenty of time to do great things as first-year representative!
