Meet BOO Board 2010

President Jacob Agi

Picture
Descending from a long lineage of French immigrants, Jacob Agi has shown all what it means to achieve the American Dream. Storming the East Coast just a mere two years ago, this LA Native came armed with his shades and ready to make a name for himself. Climbing the ranks as First-Year Rep and Treasurer, Jacob has finally reached the top as President of the Brandeis Orthodox Organization. Though this Sephardi sports addict stays true to his roots, Jacob keeps it real with his love for traditional Ashkenaz foods like chopped liver and herring. Give it up for our president, Jacob Agi!

Vice President Dafna Gutfreund

Picture
Dafna Gutfreund is from Teaneck, New Jersey. While Teaneck has produced many great Jews, Dafna stands out above them all. What makes Dafna so great is her tenacity and diligence in everything she does - like visiting every J.P Licks in the Boston area. She will be using her skills in the upcoming year to serve you all. Presenting Miss VP - Dafna Gutfreund!

Secretary Rachel Weinstein

Picture
With a wide smile and her classic, "Hey!" and a wave, this year's secretary makes everyone in the BOO community feel at home. Her OCD for organization and deadlines (among other things) keeps everyone on board in line. Hailing all the way from Seattle, Washington (who knew people actually lived there?), we are privileged to have our Secretary, Rachel Weinstein!

Treasurer Jason Sugarman

Picture
Widely known for his voice, this New Yorker can frequently be heard singing in Brandeis' Voicemale or shouting his latest Torah opinions. Now, after studying money and religion at Ramaz and Yeshivat Hakotel, he has left his high school gambling habits behind in Havana and is here to manage our finances as BOO Treasurer - Jason Sugarman!

Education Coordinator Daniel Kasdan

Picture
Hailing from Mevaseret Tziyon, Daniel "DK" Kasdan is actually a true Yeshiva Bochur on a top-secret mission to make everyone in Brandeis love Torah as much as he does. But the secret's out: his awesome education catalog and extensive list of visiting rabbis convinces us all that he won't rest until Brandeis is a true "bastion of Torah". For all your learning needs, we present Education Coordinator Daniel Kasdan!

Publicity Coordinator Joan Fleischer

Picture
BOO would be just a mere memory without our extremely talented and loved photographer. While snapping away endless photos at every BOO event, Joan has a constant smile on her face that manifests her extreme dedication to the community. Although science has yet to find a connection between eating one's vegetables and excellent computer abilities, one must exist: it's beyond comprehension that these two factoids are not inter-linked. Now when you get an amazing email from our very own Joan you will remember to eat your veggies. Our awesome Publicity Coordinator, Joan Fleischer!

Social Events Coordinator Shira Moskowitz

Picture
A longtime advocate of tomatoes and hamburgers, this Social Events Coordinator is known for her honesty and true concern for others. Shira (or Shi-Mo, as she likes to be called) has the unique ability to balance two distinct aspects of her personality: she is a fierce social animal, shermanizing with anyone who crosses her path, yet she is unwilling to sacrifice her role as a caring and loyal friend. Before coming to Brandeis, this resident of East Brunswick, NJ attended Flatbush and Midreshet Lindenbaum. Her love of BOO and social activities make her the perfect choice for Social Events Coordinator - Shira Moskowitz!

Chesed Coordinator Alyssa Moore

Picture
Our Chesed Coordinator brings a lot to the table.  For one, her face is always cheerful (and flexible- ask her to make a fish face!).  She also holds the distinction of being the youngest Board member (which is quite a feat this year).  Hailing from Midreshet Amit, Alyssa Moore brings her giving spirit and friendliness to everything she does. Presenting our Chesed Coordinator, Alyssa Moore!

Beit Midrash Coordinator Rebecca Pollack

Picture
This passionate Zionist is truly the perfect candidate for Beit Midrash Coordinator. If Rebecca is ever MIA, she can surely be found shteiging away in the Beis, either with a chavruta or in a chabura. In addition to her love for learning and the Holy Land, Rebecca also loves art. In fact, there's even an art building on campus named for her: the Rebecca Pollack building! Now she just needs to find her basheret Maurice ... we give you our Beit Midrash Coordinator, Rebecca Pollack!

Gabbai Alex Marder

Picture
If you were to walk into Alex's room you'd think he went to Maryland with his Terps lamp and clothing...but he doesn't. Instead Alex goes to minyan 3 times a day every day. Hailing from Baltimore naturally he loves minyan. Alex holds the world record in Aron Lifting - many have tried but no one can beat him. Introducing our Gabbai, Alex Marder!
